High Efficiency DC/DC Converter

Master Thesis

During the last few years has been a growth in the interest of the electric vehicle (EV) market, withthe big groups of the automobile sector introducing several models into the market, both hybrid or pure electric. So, the study in EV is an important subject, which must be addressed by the engineering students in order to form a new generation of engineers to the emergent market on EVs. In this context it is important to continue the research done so far and start looking to other new solutions. Based on these ideas, the research group of the Power and Energy at INESC TEC (http://www2.inescporto.pt/use-en) started the development of Hybrid Power Source for Electric Vehicle using Li-ion Battery and Supercapacitors .

As we can see in the literature the use of electricity is able to diversify the power sources of vehicles, thus downsizing or even getting rid of low-efficiency internal combustion engines (ICEs), while facilitating the growth of renewable energy in the power sector. This work pretends develop a multiport power converter to be used in a multi-source electric vehicle.
